AARG was formed on August 15th, 1998 as section #585 of the National Association of Rocketry.  In February 2001, the merger of AARG and Hill Country Tripoli was proposed to more efficiently make use of available launch sites and equipment.

AARG has operated regular launches since its inception - originally at Old Settlers' Park in Round Rock, later at the Pflugerville Pflying Pfield, and now at two fields in the Hutto and Rockdale areas.  We are a family oriented organization providing a variety of fun, educational activities.  AARG supports all facets of rocketry including low power models, high power sport flights, and even research motors.

Austin Area Rocketry Group is registered with the Texas Secretary of State and is recognized by the I.R.S. as a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.
