Cub Scouts Blast Off

Cub Scouts national suggested meeting theme for the September 2002 meeting was "Blast Off!", with associated rocket and aerospace related themes. Because of this, we received several requests from Cub Scout packs to conduct rocketry demos during September. AARG members conducted 4 demonstrations:

• Monday September 9
  David Ivey, Steve Rogers, and Brian Wheeler conducted a demo for about 65 scouts at Shady Hollow Elementary

• Thursday September 19
  David Ivey and the Wheeler family conducted a demo for about 80 scouts at Eanes Elementary

• Thursday September 19
  Joe Peck presented rocketry concepts for about a dozen scouts near Northcross mall.

• Tuesday September 24
  David Ivey and Steve Rogers conducted a demo for about 60 scouts in Wimberley

There aren't as many photos as we'd like because once the demo starts its simply too hectic to make photos. Cub Scouts range in age from 6 to 11 and many have some prior experience with rocketry. Their enthusiasm is contagious and everyone has a good time.
